Papst-Benedikt-XVI-Platz, Traunstein

Papst-Benedikt-XVI-Platz, 83278 Traunstein, Germany

District Office Traunstein | Opening Hours & Phone Number

The District Office Traunstein is the central administrative authority of the Traunstein district and consolidates many public tasks at one location or in several clearly named external offices. On the authority's homepage, particularly frequently searched topics such as vehicle registration office, waste management, building authority, and public transport are the focus, which clearly shows which concerns are particularly important in everyday life for citizens and businesses. The district is located in the southeast of Upper Bavaria, is the largest district in Upper Bavaria in terms of area, and is one of the largest districts in Bavaria. At the same time, the career portal emphasizes that the district is managed with around 181,000 citizens and 950 employees. For visitors, it is especially important: The central address at Papst-Benedikt-XVI.-Platz, the unified telephone exchange, and the clear service hours make many concerns predictable and transparent. Those looking for the right way quickly will also find contact methods, contact persons, and digital services on the website that shorten the trip to the office in many cases. ([traunstein.com](https://www.traunstein.com/))

Opening Hours, Contact, and Contact Persons at the District Office Traunstein

The general service hours for the District Office Traunstein are Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 12:00 and Monday to Thursday from 13:00 to 16:00. The main address is Papst-Benedikt-XVI.-Platz, 83278 Traunstein, supplemented by the central telephone exchange at 0861 58-0 and the fax 0861 58-9449. The contact pages of the authority also mention a live chat, a contact form, and the possibility to search for contact persons. This is particularly helpful when a concern needs to be clarified not generally, but specifically by department. In practice, the District Office is not just an address, but a network of specialized offices organized across several subject areas. For many services, an appointment is explicitly recommended or required. This applies, for example, to the driver's license office, vehicle registration office, building authority, and other departments. Therefore, those planning a short trip or wanting to combine several concerns benefit from the clear structure of the authority. The website also makes it clear that many services can be prepared online, which reduces waiting times and simplifies orientation on site. ([traunstein.com](https://www.traunstein.com/buerger-verwaltung/fuehrerscheinstelle))

Particularly practical is that the authority clearly separates its most important contact channels by subject area. Thus, waste management has its own central service area, the driver's license office has its own phone numbers, and the vehicle registration office has a separate information hotline. The care office, building authority, and foreigners' authority also each have their own contact paths. This division is useful for seekers because the frequently searched terms on the website are actually translated into concrete services. For example, those searching for phone numbers, contact persons, or opening hours do not end up in an unclear collection menu, but directly at the relevant specialist information. This is as relevant from an SEO perspective as it is for user experience, as the District Office combines classic administrative accessibility with digital services. Especially during high visitor traffic, the combination of phone, email, online appointment booking, and service hours is a decisive advantage. ([traunstein.com](https://www.traunstein.com/))

Waste Management, Garbage Collection, and Waste App in Traunstein

One of the most searched topics related to the District Office Traunstein is waste management. The official website explains that citizens can use a waste ABC for proper disposal to quickly check what belongs where. For the year 2025, a collection calendar will also be mailed to all households in the district. This calendar contains the collection days for residual waste, organic waste, and paper bins, as well as holiday shifts and dates for the hazardous waste collection vehicle. Additionally, an individual collection calendar can be created via the website, even for the 1.1-cbm large waste containers. In addition, there is a free waste app for Android and Apple that reminds users of all dates with a waste alarm. This combination of calendar, app, and online service makes waste management particularly convenient for many households. Instead of painstakingly looking up individual dates, relevant information can be retrieved centrally and accompanied digitally. ([traunstein.com](https://www.traunstein.com/aktuelles/meldungen/landkreis-traunstein-versendet-abfuhrkalender-2025))

The contact information for waste management is also clearly stated. Responsible is the department of waste management and properties at Papst-Benedikt-XVI.-Platz with the central phone number 0861 58-7684 and the email address for fee inquiries. The website also mentions fees, recycling centers, and bulky waste registrations as relevant topics, even if the homepage primarily highlights the collection calendar and the app. For search intents like garbage collection, garbage bin, waste, and waste management, this is ideal because the authority answers concrete everyday questions and does not just use abstract administrative terms. Particularly helpful is that the waste information is not isolated but embedded in the general service and communication structure of the District Office. This means: Those with an appointment, a follow-up question, or a disposal question can quickly find the responsible contact person. This strengthens the perception of the District Office as a modern service authority that combines digital reminders and classic information pathways. Vehicle Registration Office, Desired License Plates, and Digital Vehicle Services

The vehicle registration office is one of the most visible and frequently searched service areas of the District Office Traunstein. It is located at Kotzinger Straße 6 in Traunstein and offers services related to new registrations, transfers, re-registrations, day registrations, and deregistrations of vehicles. The issuance and modification of registration certificates Part I and II, as well as the reservation of desired license plates, are also part of the service range. It is important to note: The services on site are only possible with a prior appointment, and an appointment can be booked a maximum of 14 days in advance. A maximum of two registration processes are possible per appointment, which is why good preparation of the documents is particularly sensible. The website also refers to iKfz, i.e., the web-based vehicle registration or deregistration, thus pointing to a digital path that significantly simplifies many standard cases. This is a clear relief for people who want to register, transfer, or deregister a car. ([traunstein.com](https://www.traunstein.com/buerger-verwaltung/kfz-zulassungsbehoerde))

The vehicle page also clearly shows how the authority translates search queries like desired license plates into a practical offer. Users can reserve and pick up license plates, with the page explicitly addressing historical, electric vehicle, seasonal, and regular license plates. Additionally, there is the option to prepare documents via online services and present them with the correct documents by appointment. This is helpful for many people because it reduces waiting time and makes processing more predictable. The central information hotline 0861 58-515, as well as the general contact option, rounds off the offer. Therefore, those searching for desired license plates, vehicle registration office, or vehicle registration document find a combination of online reservation, appointment booking, and personal service on site. Although the website does not display detailed parking information on the main page, it makes clear with the route planning function and online services that the arrival should be prepared. This creates a modern process that makes administrative visits more structured and significantly faster. ([traunstein.com](https://www.traunstein.com/buerger-verwaltung/kfz-zulassungsbehoerde))

Driver's License Office, Exchanging Driver's License, and Planning Appointments in Time

The driver's license office of the District Office Traunstein is the central contact point for driving licenses and mobility. It is located at the external office Kotzinger Straße 6 and processes all concerns related to driver's licenses and driving permissions. For personal visits, a prior appointment is required, which can be booked directly through the online portal. At the same time, the authority points out exceptions: For questions regarding suitability checks or reissuance after revocation, booking through the portal is not possible; here, contact is made directly by phone with the responsible case workers. The range of services is broad and includes the issuance of a driving license, accompanied driving from age 17, extension of the driving license, reissuance after revocation, foreign or international driver's license, loss, theft, and name change, as well as the exchange of the driver's license. For this reason, the driver's license office is a particularly strong search topic for people who want to quickly find the responsible office and the appropriate service. ([traunstein.com](https://www.traunstein.com/buerger-verwaltung/fuehrerscheinstelle))

Regarding the exchange of driver's licenses, the District Office provides concrete deadlines and a clear classification. According to the official announcement, credit card driver's licenses issued from January 19, 2013, are already EU-compliant. The phased mandatory exchange affects older driver's licenses; for birth years from 1971, the paper driver's license should be exchanged by January 19, 2025, and by January 19, 2033, all EU citizens with a driving license must possess a temporary EU credit card driver's license. The District Office refers to the driver's license office for further information and lists several phone numbers, including 0861 58-7686, -7667, and the general driver's license hotline 0861 58-494. Additionally, it is mentioned that applications can be filled out online in advance and submitted by post, which facilitates the process, especially in cases of mandatory exchange or standard cases. Thus, the authority connects deadlines, advice, and digital application steps into a clear service path. Therefore, those searching for exchanging driver's license, driving permission, or appointment booking not only receive an address but a fully structured administrative process. Very good experience with the staff at the Ausländerbehörde. Friendly and professional, quick to reply to any inquiries I have by email or on the phone. Some can even speak very good English or they will at least try to help you as best they can. Even being put on hold on the telephone, with Volksmusik it is entertaining. ABH Traunstein is a gem.

The accessibility is abysmal. If you finally get through after three days of trying, you're transferred five times, and in the end, nobody answers the phone. The email address on the website doesn't work either. A textbook example of a bureaucratic nightmare!
