When Bells Make History and Faith Audible
Bells accompany the life of a city with their sound. They call to worship, mark special times, and connect generations across confessions and decades. The evening The Bells of Traunstein invites you to perceive these familiar sounds anew and discover their religious, cultural, and historical significance.
An Evening for the Mind and Ears
In the Kolpingsstüberl of the Catholic Parish Home St. Oswald, Ralf Müller, bell expert of the Archdiocese, dedicates himself to the history and production of bells. Expertise, audio examples, and regional references combine to create a vivid religious experience.
The Rings of Traunstein's Churches
The focus is on the ringing of the City Church of Traunstein and the Evangelical Resurrection Church. The event looks at their history and questions what significance bells have in the everyday church life. The confiscation during World War II and the subsequent recovery will also be discussed.
Bells as Symbols of Lived Spirituality
Church bells structure the daily routine, accompany services, and give audible form to festivities, funerals, and special occasions. Their sound creates a spiritual atmosphere and makes community tangible in public space. The evening thus also opens a pathway to liturgy, prayer, and religious tradition.
Open Encounter in the Parish Home
The event is part of the series And more ... Culture of the Catholic Educational Organization Traunstein and takes place in cooperation with the City Church of Traunstein. Participation is open to everyone interested. Registration with the Catholic Educational Organization is recommended.
