With Heart and Attitude into the Role of Saint Nicholas
When Saint Nicholas visits families, children's groups, church services, or a Christmas market, a special moment arises between anticipation, faith, and community. The workshop Soon it will be Saint Nicholas Eve imparts interested participants with the necessary knowledge and practical skills for a respectful and credible portrayal of Saint Nicholas.
History, Legends, and Religious Significance
At the beginning, the focus is on the history, legends, and the documented facts surrounding Saint Nicholas. The course opens up an expert approach to a figure that stands for charity, mercy, and attentive action for others in the Christian tradition.
Costume, Presence, and Liturgical Framework
Another focus is on the clothing and costume of the Saint Nicholas performer. Participants will explore how external appearance, language, and attitude interact. Different situations will also be taken into account: a visit to a family or kindergarten, a depiction in a church service, as well as an appearance at the Christmas market each require an appropriate sensitivity to atmosphere, target audience, and religious context.
Practical Exercises for Real Encounters
In the practical part, the role of Saint Nicholas will be tested and practiced. This creates an immediate experience of faith, combining expertise, spirituality, and human closeness. Exercises will help participants to present themselves confidently, listen attentively, and make encounters with children and adults dignified.
Learning Together in the Parish Hall of St. Cross
The course takes place in cooperation with the Parish of St. Cross and is led by Johannes Stoeber. In the spiritual community of the parish hall, space is created for questions, exchange, and practical preparation for the Saint Nicholas season. This offering is organized with the Catholic Adult Education Association.
The workshop begins on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 1:00 PM and ends at 6:00 PM. The venue is the Parish Hall of St. Cross at Schloßstraße 15a in Traunstein. Registration is through the Catholic Adult Education Association at 0861 69495.
Conclusion: Well Prepared for the Saint Nicholas Season
Visitors can expect a concentrated blend of religious background knowledge, practical role work, and communal learning. Those who want to portray Saint Nicholas authentically, kindly, and responsibly will experience valuable preparation for personal encounters during the Advent season.
