Step by Step Approach to Christmas with God's Word
During Advent, a quiet space opens up in the parish hall of Vachendorf for reflection, prayer, and joint Bible reading. The event series Lectio Divina invites participants to read biblical texts attentively with both mind and heart and to discover traces for their own lives within them. In the spiritual community, time is created for personal faith experiences, exchange, and a conscious preparation for the feast of the incarnation of God.
The Bible as a Living Source
Lectio Divina refers to a meditative form of Bible reading that has been rooted in Christian spirituality for centuries. The focus is on the careful reading of the text, contemplating its meaning, praying, and silent deepening. Thus, the Holy Scriptures are not only read as historical documents but as the Word of God that can touch people in their respective life situations.
Four Evenings in Advent
On four Thursdays from November 19 to December 10, 2026, interested individuals will meet from 19:00 to 20:30 in the parish hall of Vachendorf. The series accompanies the Advent season and focuses on questions of hope, longing, orientation, and the path to the manger. Participation is also possible on individual evenings.
Reading Together, Silencing, and Engaging in Conversation
Under the guidance of Barbara Burghartswieser, community referent, the event connects biblical impulses with personal silence and mindful exchange. A calm atmosphere supports concentration on the texts and allows space for different approaches. Previous knowledge is not required; welcome are individuals from the parish association as well as all interested parties who wish to deepen their spirituality during Advent.
A Path to Inner Preparation
Lectio Divina gives Advent a decelerated form. Amid everyday life, obligations, and pre-Christmas busyness, a faith experience emerges that leads to tranquility and opens new perspectives. The common reading strengthens the community's bonds and makes it tangible how biblical words can provide hope and orientation for today.
Visitors can expect a dignified, open, and communal religious experience with meditative Bible reading, prayer, and exchange. Those who wish to not only prepare for Christmas but also to expect it inwardly will find in this series a special place for reflection and faith.
