Understanding, experimenting with, and safely using AI
How does Artificial Intelligence work and what role will it play in schools, training, and jobs in the future? The workshops for youth aged 16 and above at the Youth Center in Traunstein turn a future topic into a practical learning experience with direct relevance to everyday life.
Hands-on introduction to the world of AI
On Friday, November 6, 2026, participants will receive an overview of important AI systems and their applications from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Together, they will explore how AI can assist with research, text writing, and organizing workflows. Various applications can be tried out themselves – age-appropriate, child-friendly, and with a focus on responsible use.
Recognizing opportunities and understanding limits
The workshop combines learning fun with important questions about the digital future. Young people will learn where AI is already being used in everyday life, education, and the workplace. At the same time, it involves critical thinking: results from AI systems must be examined, categorized, and used with personal responsibility.
Images, deepfakes, and data protection
In the second workshop on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, AI-generated images, deepfakes, and data protection will be at the center of attention. Young participants will learn how such content is created, how to recognize possible manipulations, and how personal data can be protected when using digital tools.
Time for sharing and a snack
After the first workshop, a small snack invites conversation. This creates space alongside the technical learning experience for questions, curiosity, and joint reflection on the future workplace. For the practical exercises, youth should bring their own laptop or smartphone. Registration may be required for some AI applications.
Safe and self-determined in the digital future
The event will be led by Christian Kuhn. The organizers are the Adult Education Center of Traunstein and the Youth Welfare Office of Traunstein. The workshops are funded by the State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection and are therefore free of charge. The focus is on media competence, data protection, safety, and the development of a self-determined approach to Artificial Intelligence.
Conclusion: AI competence as an opportunity for the future
This family and youth offering provides young people aged 16 and over with an understandable, practical introduction to an important future topic. Those who want to not only operate AI but also critically evaluate it will experience two informative afternoons at the Youth Center Traunstein with practice, exchange, and valuable impulses for school, training, and work.
