Create Habitat for Birds with Your Own Hands
In the family program Building Nest Boxes, children and teenagers become environmental helpers: Together, practical nest boxes are created at the Campus St. Michael in Traunstein, which can then be taken home. This workshop connects creative craftsmanship with nature observation, species support, and shared time.
Crafting, Wonder, and Taking Responsibility
When wood is processed and a protective birdhouse is built from individual parts, young participants directly experience how something useful grows from an idea. The family experience strengthens joy in practical activities and makes ecological connections comprehensible for children.
Learning Fun About Local Birds
A nest box provides birds with a protected place to raise their young. While building, children and teenagers learn why suitable habitats are important and how people can support native wildlife. The activity promotes concentration, fine motor skills, independence, and a responsible approach to nature.
Active Together for Nature
The program is conducted by the Catholic Adult Education Center Traunstein in cooperation with Campus St. Michael and the SoLaWi Chiemgau. The reference person is stated as SoLaWi Chiemgau. The solidarity agriculture stands for communal economics, ecological education, and a conscious handling of natural resources.
A Nest Box for Home
The finished birdhouse can be taken home. Here, together with the family, a suitable place can be found where the development of birds and seasonal changes can be observed. Thus, a workshop becomes a sustainable learning experience that extends beyond the event day.
Conclusion: Children and teenagers can expect a creative nature experience with visible results. Through building, learning, and discovering together, children grow into little environmental helpers. Those who want to combine practical activities, children's laughter, and nature conservation should experience this workshop live in Traunstein.
