On the Sunny Side: Traunstein Becomes an Open Art Space
The Art and Culture Weekend Traunstein connects exhibitions, museums, concerts, live music, and creative participatory offers into a versatile art experience. Under the motto On the Sunny Side, from October 16 to 18, 2026, numerous cultural venues will open their doors and invite people to experience art in the urban space firsthand.
Viewing, Creating, and Rethinking Art
On Saturday, workshops and interactive formats will take center stage. In the collective workshop Atelier Büntig, images and objects will be further processed. Bring your own, work on the unfamiliar, and develop new circular creations from what is present: the workshop sees art as an open process and an invitation to cultural participation.
The travel agency Sonnenseite also expands the program with creative city views. By collaging and printing their own postcards, personal memory images are created. Parallelly, an audio tour through Traunstein titled Visions for the Sunny Side will develop.
Sketch & Sound at the Train Station Square
A particularly atmospheric program highlight is Sketch & Sound. During Urban Sketching, architecture, everyday life, and city life are captured on site in quick drawings. Soundscapes complement the experience of the artworks with an acoustic layer. The meeting point is at 11 a.m. in the MuK Studios at the Train Station Square.
The combination of drawing and sound creates an immediate aesthetic experience: lines respond to movement, sounds shape the perception of space, and the familiar urban space appears as a living installation. Art historically, the format connects to documentary sketch practices, experimental sound art, and participatory contemporary art.
Interactive Art Action in the Garden Room
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Garden Room behind the Wiesenladl will become an open action area. In the compliment shower and active silhouette painting, visitors will themselves become part of the artistic work. Body, light, outline, and encounter merge into a temporary installation that can only be completed through the audience's participation.
A small giveaway to smile at rounds off the action. Here, art does not appear as a distant object but as a communal process: to view, participate, and take home.
MuK Studios as a Creative Meeting Point
The MuK Studios at Train Station Square 9 are an important hub for the culture weekend. The House for Music and Art combines rehearsal rooms, studios, workshops, and communal cultural work. The open curating creates space for regional artists, musical encounters, and new forms of cultural education.
Conclusion: An Art Experience with City, Sound, and Encounter
The Art and Culture Weekend Traunstein offers a versatile exhibition atmosphere between studio, urban space, music, and shared artwork appreciation. Art enthusiasts experience contemporary positions not only in the exhibition space but also in direct exchange and as their own aesthetic experience. Those who want to discover Traunstein on the sunny side should visit this inspiring culture weekend live and become part of the artistic happenings.
