Zauberberg gGmbH | Events & Tickets in Passau
The Zauberberg gGmbH is the vibrant hub for concerts, club nights, and pop culture in Passau. Centrally located at Franz-Stockbauer-Weg 1 and just a few steps from the ZOB and the main train station, the live club combines an intimate concert atmosphere with a diverse program and professional technology. As a non-profit venue rooted in the region, the team brings local talents to the stage alongside national and international acts – from indie to metal and punk to funk, hip-hop, singer-songwriter showcases, and special-interest parties. The club is oriented towards standing room, the hall is compact, and the paths are short: The audience stands close to the stage, the sound is direct, and the atmosphere is familial. Tickets are available for many concerts in advance, while parties usually operate through the box office. Thanks to digital ticket processing and clear event information, the process is straightforward. Those arriving by car can park comfortably in the adjacent central garage; the club is also quickly accessible by bus and train. Here you will find all the important information about the program, tickets, directions, equipment, parties, photos, and team – fact-based and compact.
Events and Program at Zauberberg Passau
The program at Zauberberg is genre-crossing and alternates between concerts, club nights, and special formats. The opening hours are based on the event; the club is regularly open on Fridays and Saturdays. Around holidays and during peak seasons, the program is often intensified – with thematic parties, local newcomer evenings, and tour stops of well-known bands. For 2025, several notable concerts are scheduled on the official event pages: The German punk band Fahnenflucht performed on May 24, 2025, with their current album “Molotov Zitrone” at Zauberberg; the Italian ska-punk veterans Skassapunka played an energetic show on March 28, 2025; Stonebourne brought their powerful grunge sound to the club on April 20, 2025. On September 4, 2025, Samavayo – oriental influenced heavy prog/stoner rock from Berlin – was on the Passau tour schedule. And on October 18, 2025, the Düsseldorf speed/heavy metal cult legends Warrant celebrated a record release at Zauberberg. These examples showcase the stylistic range: punk and hardcore, stoner and grunge, classic and speed metal, indie and pop culture – every audience has its stage here. Additionally, curated series and festivals such as metal floor formats, queer comedy and club events, or open-air collaborations in the region are included. Exemplary for the late season of 2025, the homepage lists a dense sequence of danceable parties around Christmas/New Year: 90’s Party on December 25, 2025, 80s Party on December 26, 2010’s Party on December 27, the Flower Power Party with Odysseus on December 28, the electronic art and club format Caaarusel on December 29, the 2000’s Party on December 30, and finally the big New Year's Eve Party on December 31, 2025. Each event has its own information texts with entry times, classifications for minors (if relevant), and payment method notes. It is advisable to check online early to see if there are advance sale tickets and when the box office opens, as entry stops may be possible for popular formats. The club generally recommends arriving early for popular party series – this minimizes waiting times and ensures quick entry to the dance floor.
Tickets, Box Office, and Refunds
The ticket process is intentionally kept simple: Those who book online receive the ticket as a PDF in a separate email and can present it digitally on their phone or as a wallet pass; at the entrance, scanning the QR code is sufficient. For environmental reasons, Zauberberg does not use traditional hard tickets. For many parties, it is “box office only,” while concerts usually also run in advance – this is clearly indicated in the event details. Important for payment methods: Card payment is possible at the bar, while cash is paid at the box office and coat check. For popular shows, it is advisable to purchase tickets early; if a concert is sold out in advance, there may still be remaining tickets at the box office, without guarantee. Entry begins with the opening of the box office; those who arrive earlier wait outside. Regarding ticket validity: The ticket is only valid upon payment; unpaid orders are not reservations; without proof of payment, the box office price applies. Regarding refunds, postponements & cancellations: According to information on the website, the organizer informs about changes via homepage, social media, and email to the buyer's address. In case of postponement, tickets generally retain their validity for the replacement date; in case of cancellation, refunds occur automatically, please allow some processing time. There is no voluntary return policy for events that take place as planned. For minors, entry times are regulated by law and may vary depending on the event. In general: No entry under 14 years, under 16 years the exit time is limited to 10 PM, under 18 years usually until midnight. An official photo ID must always be presented; so-called “Muttizettel” are not accepted. Specific deviations for cultural events (not parties) as well as color-coded monthly posters with entry levels are communicated by the club – the notes in the information text of the respective event are decisive. Those wishing to use event photos should note that professional cameras are not allowed without accreditation; a photo permit can be requested in the press area. Additionally, the club regularly provides event photos that can be used in the context of event announcements with proper copyright attribution.
Directions & Parking: Central Garage, Public Transport, and Car
Zauberberg is centrally located in Passau and is easily accessible by foot, bicycle, bus, and car. From the main train station, the shortest walking route leads via Bahnhofstraße towards Poststeg, further along Heuwieserstraße and Dr.-Hans-Kapfinger-Straße, then over the Kleiner Exerzierplatz to Franz-Stockbauer-Weg – just a few minutes later, you stand in front of the club. Those coming by city bus get off at ZOB Passau; from there it is just a few steps. For drivers, the route from the A3 (exit 116 Passau Mitte) is detailed in the directions: via B12 into the city, further on Regensburger Straße, over Am Schanzl, Ludwigsplatz, and Dr.-Hans-Kapfinger-Straße, then Kleiner Exerzierplatz and right into Franz-Stockbauer-Weg. Parking in the adjacent central garage, which is open 24 hours a day and offers 920 parking spaces, is particularly convenient. The published rates are practical: The first 30 minutes cost €0.60, the second 30 minutes €0.70, and each additional started hour €1.40. At night, from 7 PM to 7 AM, a maximum charge of €3.60 applies, and the daily maximum rate is €12.00 (also in case of ticket loss). For bands and crews, there is a long parking space at the backstage area (max. approx. 7 m, up to 7.5 t, according to the floor plan) directly at the venue; further requirements – such as nightliner parking – must be clarified in advance. Since the club is located in the city center, it is advisable to allow some time for arrival during heavily attended events. Practical tip: Those who are flexible can use the bus or walk; during peak times around popular parties, this can help avoid waiting times at the parking garage. For nighttime departures, the central garage is a reliable option due to its favorable night rates. Since the club doors open and close at different times depending on the event, it is worth checking the respective event announcement in advance.
Parties Overview: Ü30, 90s, Halloween & New Year's Eve
The recurring party series are a trademark of Zauberberg and reliably fill the dance floor. At the Ü30 party, the biggest hits of the 80s, 90s, and 2000s are in the spotlight – event-specific entry conditions (for example, entry regulations for guests under 30 or only accompanied) are often found in the event information. The 90’s Party fully embraces nostalgia from Eurodance to R’n’B, while the 80s Party celebrates the synth and pop highlights of the decade. The end of the year is traditionally high party season: The Halloween clubbing on October 31 is considered particularly popular; the club explicitly advises early arrival in the event text, as entry stops may occur. The dress code is left to the theme – those who come in costume often benefit from small specials mentioned in the event text for that year. On December 31, the New Year's Eve Party invites guests to the club – in 2025 starting from 8 PM until “open end” with a free midnight sparkling wine for toasting. The days before provide warm-up formats: In the Christmas week of 2025, the website listed, among others, 90’s Party (Dec. 25), 80s Party (Dec. 26), 2010’s Party (Dec. 27), Flower Power Party with Odysseus (Dec. 28), the electronic art and club format Caaarusel (Dec. 29), and the 2000’s Party (Dec. 30). In between, there are regularly themed specials such as single parties, hip-hop or alternative nights, DJ battles, and queer community formats. The box office usually opens with entry; card payment is possible at the bar, while cash is paid at the box office. Those who want to reduce waiting times should arrive as punctually as possible for entry or check in advance about the expected occupancy. By the way: The house rules include bag checks and prohibit bringing dangerous items as well as personal drinks; this keeps the celebration safe and relaxed.
Capacity, Hall, and Technology
Zauberberg is a compact, detail-oriented live music venue with a short distance between the stage and the audience. The concert hall measures about 110 m²; the stage is around 25 m² with approx. 4 m depth, 6 m width, and 80 cm height – enough space for drum risers, backline, and dynamic live performances, while remaining approachable and direct. The total capacity is 320 guests according to the venue rider; additionally, there is a bar area of about 88 m² with a view window to the stage and a backstage area of about 30 m² with separate toilets, power connections, workspaces, and Wi-Fi. For touring acts, a solid, audience-friendly sound system is available: In the FOH, the club works with a Behringer Wing; the PA system consists of L-Acoustics A15 Wide Tops and KS21 subwoofers, plus monitoring via The Box Pro Mon A12. The lighting system includes, among other things, moving heads, washes, strobes, blinders, LED pars, and a front-side step lens configuration; controllers used are Wolfmix W1 MK2 and Showtec Lampy 20 2U. Standard backline is available for drums, guitar, and bass amps; further technology can be requested if needed. Multiple 16A/220V connections are available for power. Merchandise areas are planned in the bar area and can be expanded if necessary. For deliveries and crew vehicles, there is a long parking space at the venue near the backstage (maximum length and weight are noted in the floor plan). This pragmatic infrastructure makes the location attractive for both emerging and established acts: There are short paths, a quick changeover opportunity, and enough reserves for more demanding setups. For the audience, the manageable room size means: a dense atmosphere in front of the stage, good sightlines even from the upper level of the bar, and short paths to the coat check and drinks. Speaking of coat check: In the colder months, a coat check service is usually set up, which charges a small fee per item deposited (cash payment), while the coat check may pause in summer.
Photos, Team & Owner
Those looking for impressions and recaps will find them in the official event photos section: There, professionally curated images from the club and festival program are available – from metal shows to open-stage evenings, funk & soul gigs to queer clubbing, flower power parties, and anniversary formats. The use of selected press images is possible in the context of event announcements with correct credit attribution; detailed rules and contacts are mentioned in the press area. Behind Zauberberg is a dedicated team from program and technical management, marketing/PR, and many helpers. Marlies Resch is responsible as the managing director of Zauberberg gGmbH; in day-to-day business, club management/program and technology are named as direct contacts. The mission: to promote pop culture, network, and make it visible for the region – since the founding idea in late 2015, the first concert in 2016, and the rebranding to gGmbH. The in-house history documents milestones such as 88 concert evenings with over 150 bands in 2019 alone and the awards with the Federal Culture Prize APPLAUS (awards for the programming of independent venues) in 2019 and 2023. Collaborations – such as open-air stages, mobile stages, or series like “Bergwerk Metal,” “Rosa Laub,” or club specials – also show that Zauberberg is both a venue and a cultural organizer and networker. The club communicates transparently: office/service hours, lost & found times, house rules, and youth protection are publicly explained; in case of event changes, they inform via website, social media, and email to ticket buyers. Those wishing to use the location privately or for cultural projects can find information about renting the club, stage or tent rental, and technical support under “Rent Me” – useful for label nights, club parties, university formats, or hybrid productions. An important note on accessibility: The club is currently not fully barrier-free; the team assists at the entrance over a small step, and the dance floor in front of the stage is lower and currently only accessible via steps. A nearby accessible toilet is located at the Klostergarten. For questions related to accessibility and individual support, contact addresses are available on the website.

Unfortunately, the worst DJ I've ever experienced. We were at the 90s party and the DJ just couldn't play any good songs. It was just a playlist he let run without transitions, which shouldn't even be called DJing. At times, he didn't play any music at all and it was completely silent. That's just embarrassing...

The Zauberberg is a great choice for a relaxed yet lively club night in Passau. The bar area stands out – I was so well "taken care of" at the bar that the visit will stay in my best memories. So if you're in the mood for: good music, a dance floor, and friendly service — then this is the place for you. If your expectations are all about super club exclusivity with a mega DJ and VIP level, there are certainly bigger cities – but for Passau, this is a real hit.

Who would have thought that such a gem is located in Passau? We were at the Zauberberg for the first time for a concert by Wucan and felt completely at home right away. The service staff was very nice and the beer prices were reasonable. The atmosphere was great.

I am really shocked and disappointed! I paid 50 € in cash – for sure, because I only had that one bill with me. Still, it was claimed that I only gave 10 €. The camera was checked, but supposedly there was "nothing to see." In the end, it was just said: "We have no proof, neither do you." This is absolutely unprofessional and unfair. My money was practically stolen from me, and no one takes responsibility. I can only say: Be careful! This is no way to treat customers!

I love the Zauberberg for its location, and I'm absolutely satisfied with the staff and could only report positives about them. BUT unfortunately, I've been disappointed with the music selection almost every time. If a themed party like 90s/2000s or alternative rock is advertised, then please don't play some inappropriate remix mix most of the time.
