Rossini Hall | Events & Parking
The Rossini Hall is located in the historic spa gardens of Bad Kissingen and is part of the traditional arcade building, whose open series of round arches shapes the west side of the park towards the Franconian Saale. The hall combines an intimate concert experience with representative architecture and is ideal for chamber music, song evenings, readings, and selected guest performances. Due to its central location, visitors can easily reach the entrance on foot from the city center; those arriving by car can use nearby parking garages or the affordable day parking zones and are just minutes away from the spa gardens. The interior, with its colorful coffered ceiling and historical wall paintings, creates a distinctive atmosphere that is appreciated by both artists and the audience. The hall originated from the former conversation hall of the 19th century and was renamed Rossini Hall during the general renovation around the turn of the millennium – a reminiscence of the composer Gioachino Rossini, who stayed in Bad Kissingen in 1856. ([de.wikipedia.org](https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arkadenbau_%28Bad_Kissingen%29?utm_source=openai))
Events and Program in the Rossini Hall
The program in the Rossini Hall reflects the great musical tradition of Bad Kissingen. As a venue for the international music festival Kissinger Sommer, the hall regularly hosts chamber music and song evenings with renowned ensembles and soloists. The festival – held from mid-June to mid-July since 1986 – brings international artists to Lower Franconia and utilizes not only the Max-Littmann-Hall but also the Rossini Hall and other historical rooms of spa architecture. The intimate size of the hall, the proximity to the stage, and the clear spatial geometry make the Rossini Hall particularly attractive for song art, piano, and chamber music evenings. Visitors experience refined programs and debuts here, while the large orchestras perform in the larger halls. ([miz.org](https://miz.org/de/institutionen/kissinger-sommer-i8506?utm_source=openai))
For the winter season, the Kissinger Winterzauber sets its own accents: Between mid-December and mid-January, series of literature & music, Jazz after 8, Matinée classique, or early music take place in the historic halls of the arcade and regent buildings. Here too, the Rossini Hall is a central location for chamber music and vocal formats. The mix of tradition preservation and new crossover ideas keeps the program fresh and attracts an audience from beyond the region. ([de.wikipedia.org](https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kissinger_Winterzauber?utm_source=openai))
A special talent forum is the Kissinger KlavierOlymp: Young pianists present solo recitals in the Rossini Hall; the final concert takes place in the Max-Littmann-Hall. The competition is considered a career springboard, as examples of previous winners show. Through this combination of young talent formats, festivals, and occasional guest performances, the event calendar in the Rossini Hall remains vibrant. Portals like eventfinder also list seasonal programs from Christmas concerts to song evenings and readings that fill the hall year-round. ([termine.mainpost.de](https://termine.mainpost.de/veranstaltung/kissinger-klavierolymp-abschlusskonzert-2582837.html?utm_source=openai))
Parking and Access at the Spa Gardens
The Rossini Hall is located in the arcade building directly at the spa gardens; the traffic-calmed city center is excellently accessible for visitors on foot. Those arriving by car have the choice between affordable day parking zones near the city center and parking garages in Bad Kissingen. Particularly convenient are the inexpensive parking spaces at Eissee, in the Au, around the train station and freight station, as well as in Bergmannstraße: Here, parking usually costs 1 euro as a daily flat rate; weekly and monthly tickets are available. From these spots, it takes about 10 to 15 minutes on foot to reach the spa gardens and thus the arcade building. ([badkissingen.de](https://www.badkissingen.de/information/parken/39667.Parken-im-Stadtgebiet-Bad-Kissingen.html?utm_source=openai))
For short-term parkers, the Tattersall parking lot (formerly Salinenparkplatz) is recommended, with a flat rate of 1 euro for two hours and 0.50 euros for each additional hour; additionally, there are short-term spaces along central streets with rates ranging from about 0.30 to 1 euro per 30 minutes. Those who prefer parking in a garage can find options like the Parkhaus Zentrum; from there, it takes about 10 minutes on foot to reach the city center and the spa gardens. This variety is part of the city's parking concept, which combines proximity to the pedestrian zone with low fees in designated areas. For those traveling without a car, the DB train station Bad Kissingen is available with connections to the city bus as well as regional bus lines; from the city center, short paths lead through the spa gardens to the arcade building. Please plan enough time for arrival and departure, as during festival and seasonal events, occupancy may be higher. ([badkissingen.de](https://www.badkissingen.de/information/parken/36452.Parken-in-Bad-Kissingen.html?utm_source=openai))
Seating Plan, Arrangement, and Capacity
The Rossini Hall is a flexible event hall with variable seating arrangements. The basis is a historical room figure: double-sided Roman round arch corridors, a colorful coffered ceiling, and generous arch doors to the arcade foyer. Depending on the stage situation and row seating, the hall offers space for about 150 to 330 guests on a total of approximately 390 square meters. This allows for a range from an intimate song evening to a fully occupied chamber music event. The royal box located in the upper tier – once a representative element – is now used for controlling event technology and is not available as a public area. ([de.wikipedia.org](https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arkadenbau_%28Bad_Kissingen%29?utm_source=openai))
A fixed, universally valid seating plan does not exist, as the hall is set up differently depending on the format: from the free parterre with a clear central axis for recitals to additional platforms to row or bank seating for speaking events. For festival concerts, the respective hall plan is usually displayed in the ticket process, allowing visitors to orient themselves in advance. The rectangular basic figure, the low stage distance of many seats, and the only moderate difference in volume between the front and back areas create a closeness that is particularly appreciated in chamber music and singing. Those who need freedom of movement should pay attention to the availability of edge or aisle seats when booking; barrier-free access is provided by the paths in the arcade building, and details are communicated by the respective organizer in advance of the event. ([kissingersommer.de](https://www.kissingersommer.de/service-medien/faq/index.html?utm_source=openai))
History and Special Features of the Arcade Building
The arcade building, in which the Rossini Hall is located, was built between 1834 and 1838 according to plans by the Munich architect Friedrich von Gärtner. The open arcade, about 150 meters long, divides the spa gardens towards the Saale and is one of the defining buildings of spa architecture in Bad Kissingen. In the middle of the complex lies the former conversation hall, from which the current Rossini Hall emerged: a two-story festive hall with five projecting arcade axes as a foyer, colorful coffered ceiling, and Byzantine-inspired wall paintings. ([de.wikipedia.org](https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arkadenbau_%28Bad_Kissingen%29?utm_source=openai))
Around 1900, Max Littmann expanded the spa complex towards the fountain and promenade hall as well as to the regent building, creating the sequence of historical halls that can be perceived today. During the general renovation of the complex (1998–2004), the arcade and hall regained their historical form; the conversation hall was named after the famous composer Rossini, who stayed in Bad Kissingen for treatment in the summer of 1856. In front of the central building of the hall, a bust commemorates King Ludwig I, under whose commission the complex was built. The combination of open arcade, salon rooms, and hall creates the characteristic atmosphere that is still appreciated by the audience and artists today. Public tours through the regent building and arcade building allow a glimpse into the Rossini Hall and provide background on the building's history and usage. ([de.wikipedia.org](https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arkadenbau_%28Bad_Kissingen%29?utm_source=openai))
Tickets, Advance Sale, and Box Office
For events of the Kissinger Sommer, tickets can be purchased online, by phone, and in writing; in Bad Kissingen itself, the tourist information in the arcade building is the central point of contact for personal advance sales. During the festival, the concert box office usually opens one hour before the event, allowing for last-minute decisions. This organized ticket structure is considered proven because it offers festival guests different booking options. Those wishing to attend events in the Rossini Hall outside of the festivals will find dates and ticket links usually with the respective organizers or on common portals. ([kissingersommer.de](https://www.kissingersommer.de/service-medien/faq/index.html?utm_source=openai))
The tourist information is located directly in the arcade building at the spa gardens; it offers advice, program information, and souvenirs. In addition to festival information, it assists visitors in navigating the spa facilities and the city. Please note that opening hours may vary; current information can be found on the city's information pages or the tourist information. Those wishing to experience the architecture independently of an event can purchase a tour ticket for the regent and arcade buildings and view the hall as part of the marked tour. ([badkissingen-erleben.de](https://badkissingen-erleben.de/a_z/touristinformation/?utm_source=openai))
Facilities, Atmosphere, and Usage Options
The Rossini Hall is an acoustically and visually attractive space for refined genres due to its proportions, decorative ceiling, and surrounding arcade corridors. The stage is dimensioned for chamber music setups and song evenings; platforms and additional technology are added as needed. The proximity of the audience to the stage encourages direct communication, which is particularly appreciated in vocal and chamber music. In conjunction with the other halls – Max-Littmann-Hall, White Hall, Green Hall, salon rooms – a versatile venue for festivals, conferences, readings, and receptions is created, allowing for multi-day event formats with different room profiles. ([en.wikipedia.org](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regentenbau_%28Bad_Kissingen%29?utm_source=openai))
Characteristic is the integration of the hall into the spa facilities: In front of the building, the spa gardens open up with views towards the Saale; behind the arcades lie salon rooms and the decorative courtyard as a popular place for break receptions. Visitors interested in building history can view the hall as part of the individual tour through the regent and arcade buildings and learn more about its creation and restoration at various stations. For guests who appreciate the cultural offerings in the cold season, the Kissinger Winterzauber offers programs between classical, pop, and crossover – often in the historic halls of the complex. Seasonal presentations, program introductions, and information evenings complement the calendar, ensuring that the Rossini Hall provides impulses throughout the year. In conjunction with the other halls – Max-Littmann-Hall, White Hall, Green Hall, salon rooms – a versatile venue for festivals, conferences, readings, and receptions is created, allowing for multi-day event formats with different room profiles. I attended a performance by Wolfgang Krebs (cabaret) at the Rossini Saal. First off: beautiful hall - top-notch. Located in the center of Bad Kissingen, fair prices at the cloakroom and for drinks. Inside, it feels almost like a castle - really great aesthetics. The sound was also excellent and the seating was modern and comfortable. I will keep an eye on Bad Kissingen and the Rossini Saal for future events. It's worth it!!!

The magnificent hall from 1838 is adorned with a lot of gold in Byzantine style. The design by architect Friedrich von Gärtner is part of the arcade building and is topped with a coffered ceiling. The stage is relatively flat, which creates an intense closeness between the artists and the audience.

Beautiful hall. We were there for a spa concert by the Staatsphilharmonie Kissingen with a lovely varied program.
