Max-Reger-Halle | Events & Seating Plan

The Max-Reger-Halle in Weiden in der Oberpfalz is the central cultural and congress center of the city, combining modern event technology with a location that is ideal for both visitors and organizers. Realized between 1989 and 1991 as a cultural and congress house and named after the composer Max Reger, the ensemble today offers flexible spaces for concerts, theater, ballet, congresses, fairs, conferences, balls, and celebrations. The light-flooded foyer, proximity to the train station, and parking facilities directly across the street make access easier. The large Gustl-Lang hall accommodates up to around 900 guests, depending on the seating arrangement, while the divisible Gustav-von-Schlör hall can hold about 360. The room offerings are complemented by several conference rooms of 45 m² each and three foyers on different levels. Accessibility is a fixed standard: barrier-free access, elevators to all levels, and designated disabled parking spaces are available. The in-house event catering with a restaurant area in the hall takes care of the guests' physical well-being. Thanks to the central location in the city, the connection to public transport, and the good accessibility from the A93, the Max-Reger-Halle is suitable for both regional cultural evenings and national professional congresses.

Events and Event Calendar

Those who want to keep an eye on the program of the Max-Reger-Halle can find the event calendar on the official website of the hall. There, the dates are clearly listed and linked to detail pages that provide information on start times, entry, programs, line-ups, age ratings, price groups, or possible discounts. From classical concerts to musical and theater evenings to cabaret, readings, dance and social balls, club and school events, professional congresses, fairs, and company anniversaries, the hall reflects the broad spectrum of urban culture. The variety is also reflected in the choice of rooms: high-profile stage productions and large balls often take place in the Gustl-Lang hall, while conferences, congresses, club evenings, or gala dinners often occupy the Gustav-von-Schlör hall or the flexibly usable foyers and conference rooms. For exhibitors, the three foyers on the ground, upper, and lower floors offer generous spaces for accompanying fairs, product presentations, or catering stations. A traditionally highly sought-after crowd puller is the series of winter and spring balls; exemplary for this are events like the popular flower ball, for which the large hall along with the foyer is transformed into a blooming ambiance. Folk concerts, symphonic music evenings, brass music concerts, choir and orchestra concerts also take place regularly. Organizers benefit from the professional team on-site, which supports from planning through technology to execution. Depending on the period and counting method, significantly over 200 events are reported annually; municipal information even speaks of over 400 dates for individual years – a sign of the vibrant use and the diverse formats that take place in the house. Those who have found their desired event can usually go directly from the date page to the ticket shop of the respective organizer, where hall and seating plans for the respective production are also available.

Seating Plan and Hall Plan: Best Seats at a Glance

The seating and hall plans of the Max-Reger-Halle are deliberately kept variable so that they fit perfectly for concerts, shows, fairs, or galas. The Gustl-Lang hall – the largest hall in the house – features a large parquet floor and a gallery. Depending on the setup, row, mixed, or banquet seating arrangements are possible; standing configurations for show formats also occur. In classic row seating, the hall offers up to around 900 seats. For hybrid formats, awards, or dinners, the hall transforms with stage and backstage area into a banquet hall with pathways for service and presentations. The Gustav-von-Schlör hall is the second large event hall in the house. It is divisible (for example, 1/3 to 2/3) and is therefore ideally suited for parallel panels, workshops, or breakout sessions. In full seating, it accommodates up to around 360 guests, with seminar or banquet seating arrangements correspondingly fewer. Additionally, several 45 m² conference rooms are available; two of them can be combined into a room for up to about 80 people. For exhibitions, the three foyers on the ground, upper, and lower floors provide additional areas that can also accommodate reception situations, check-in, cloakroom, or fair catering. Where can I find the appropriate seating plan? The specific seating plan is provided for each event in the respective ticket shop. For many dates, this is a Vibus plan that depicts parquet and gallery areas as well as price groups; for other events, the organizer provides alternative plans. Because stage, technical and mixing console positions, as well as stage extensions, vary between events, the online plans are the most reliable source for seat selection. For accessible seating, it applies that they are provided in designated areas on the parquet or in the edge area, depending on the event. Information can be found on the event detail page or in the provider's shop; the hall team is available for individual inquiries.

Directions and Parking at the Max-Reger-Halle

Access is comfortable by train, bus, and car. From the Weiden train station, a short walk of about ten minutes leads to the Max-Reger-Halle: From the train station square, go straight along Brenner-Schäffer-Straße for about 500 meters towards the city center, turn left at the next traffic light, and after about 100 meters, the hall is on the right side. Those coming by bus should go to the central bus station (ZOB). From there, the hall is visible directly across from the town hall; the path leads just a few steps across the square. For drivers, the A93 (exit Weiden South) is the fastest access route. From the exit, follow the southeast tangent into the city and turn left into Dr.-Pfleger-Straße at the third traffic light; the Max-Reger-Halle is located shortly after on the right side. Parking facilities are available directly on-site: Approximately 75 in-house parking spaces are available in front of the hall. Across the street is the large city parking lot with around 400 additional spaces; a nearby parking garage offers about 459 more spaces. The parking spaces are subject to fees. For guests with mobility impairments, designated disabled parking spaces are set up directly in front of the hall; additional barrier-free spaces are located at the large parking lot Naabwiesen across the street. Those who need to deliver equipment and materials should coordinate access and loading zones with the hall team; the favorable location and generous outdoor areas facilitate setup and teardown. For shuttle or tour buses, it is advisable to coordinate stopping times in advance, especially for large events. Due to the proximity to the city center, a cultural evening in the hall and a walk through the old town can be easily combined; the adjacent hotel is within walking distance, and dining options in the city are conveniently within reach. Tip for navigation systems: The exact address is Dr.-Pfleger-Straße 17, 92637 Weiden.

Tickets and Booking: Online and On-Site

Tickets for events in the Max-Reger-Halle are usually sold by the respective organizer through an associated ticket shop. The most convenient way is through the event overview on the hall's website: From there, you can go to the event detail page and click into the shop. Often, the Vibus system is used, which displays the respective seating plan along with price groups for many events. For selected dates, live streams are also offered; availability is indicated in the event description. Prices, discounts (for example, for students, people with disabilities), entry times, notes on bag regulations, or photo/video bans are listed in the shop and organizer notes. A classic box office sale may be offered – depending on the organizer – and the information can be found on the detail page of the respective date. When choosing seats, it is advisable to use the plan provided in the shop, as stage and technical positions vary and some productions use additional platforms, orchestra pits, or catwalks. Group and corporate bookings are coordinated by the hall management together with the organizer; for conferences, congresses, fairs, or graduation balls, the team creates individual offers that include room rental, stage and lighting technology, sound, security, cleaning, furnishing, catering, and personnel planning. Those planning their own event can find the most important key data in the organizer area: area specifications (e.g., 850 m² in the Gustl-Lang hall and 420 m² in the Gustav-von-Schlör hall), divisible rooms, foyers on three levels, and conference rooms that can be partially combined. The house rules and terms and conditions are available in the download area and are part of the contracts. For date options, reservations, and detailed questions, the team can be reached by phone or email.

Facilities, Capacity, and Rooms

The Max-Reger-Halle is designed for versatility. The centerpiece is the Gustl-Lang hall with around 850 m² of space, a large parquet floor, a gallery, and a full stage. Here, concerts, shows, award ceremonies, gala dinners, and balls can be realized with generous scenography. The Gustav-von-Schlör hall offers approximately 420 m² and is modularly divisible, for example, into a 1/3 and a 2/3 configuration – ideal for parallel program parts, workshops, or accompanying exhibitions. Three large foyers (ground floor, upper floor, lower floor) serve as reception, exhibition, or catering areas. Several 45 m² conference rooms complement the offering; two of them can be combined into a larger room for up to about 80 people. In total, events can be held – depending on setup and area layout – for small meetings with 12 participants to formats with nearly 1,200 people. In addition to the variety of rooms, the hall excels with modern event technology. The house is equipped for concerts, theater, and ballet as well as for congresses, presentations, and fairs. The stage in the large hall is designed as a full stage; it allows for different portal widths and depths as needed. The hall's technical team manages sound, lighting, stage, and security according to current standards and coordinates load plans, hanging points, and power supply with the productions. For sporty-social formats, there is a bowling alley with eight lanes at Bundesliga level in the basement, along with a serving area, which is often used for supporting programs, club celebrations, or team evenings. Accessibility is a lived standard in the Max-Reger-Halle: The main entrance and the foyer on the ground floor are level, all levels are accessible via an elevator, and there is a barrier-free toilet with an automatic door in the foyer. The outdoor facilities are also accessible without steps. Reserved disabled parking spaces are available directly in front of the hall, with more located across the street at the large parking lot. A special advantage is the location: A 4-star hotel is located in direct proximity, making the hall additionally attractive for multi-day conferences or congresses. The history of the building dates back to the 1970s; the cultural and congress center was realized between 1989 and 1991. It is named after the composer Max Reger, who has roots in Weiden. The two large halls bear the names of significant Bavarian personalities: The Gustl-Lang hall commemorates the former Minister of Economics August "Gustl" Lang, while the Gustav-von-Schlör hall honors the Minister of Commerce who advanced the railway connection of Weiden. Thus, the building combines contemporary comfort with a conscious reference to the city's history.

Catering and Restaurant On-Site

Good events require good catering – in the Max-Reger-Halle, both are possible from a single source. The in-house event catering serves guests in the restaurant area of the hall or directly in the respective halls and foyers. For conferences, coffee stations, snack breaks, and light lunch buffets are set up, as well as seated menus for galas or flying buffets at trade fair stands and come-together formats. For balls and banquets, hosts benefit from short distances and coordinated processes between the kitchen, service, and hall team. Thanks to the flexible room structure, independent lounges, aperitif areas, or dessert stations can also be realized in the foyers. Those planning a multi-day conference can combine the catering services with the neighboring hotel and city center gastronomy – the proximity to hospitality and the old town is a practical location advantage. For special occasions, the catering team develops menus according to request, considers vegetarian, vegan, or allergen-related requirements, and plans logistics with the organizers. In addition to the public program, the rooms are often booked for private celebrations, weddings, club anniversaries, and graduation balls; the kitchen specializes in these formats. Another advantage: The hall offers ample space for cloakrooms, photo walls, candy bars, or stage extensions that are often used at parties. This creates a harmonious overall experience from arrival through the first aperitif to the final applause. Visitors attending an event will find break catering in the foyers; its locations and offerings depend on the event format and are coordinated by the hall crew in advance. Thus, the Max-Reger-Halle becomes not only a stage for great moments but also a place for enjoyable encounters.

Great event attended by the AfD. The hall was packed with 600 visitors. No more could get in. Outside, there were people protesting because they weren't allowed in. But they weren't dressed appropriately and made a lot of noise.

Modern city hall for balls, musicals, fairs. 2 halls, variable in size & arrangement. Variable stage, "ice", unfortunately no rotating/insertion modules for water/sand. Modern LED technology, disco ball. Rich sound already through the inspector's desk, performance unb. Variable seating. 8 bowling lanes in the basement, organization cumbersome. Small arts stage has fallen asleep. Nice little rooftop garden for cocktails near the conference rooms, unfortunately not managed. Former showcase restaurant abandoned. Numerous complaints about the theater-independent break catering. Let's hope that in 5 years during the next tour this building will be better utilized, and that the citizens of Weiden get an affordable community center like Störnstein or Gräfelfing, the MRH is more for commercial users.

A beautiful conference hall. I was there for the 12th Bavarian Disaster Protection Congress. Catering was good and tasty. Toilet was clean. Seems like a good conference venue.
