Joseph von Fraunhofer Hall | Events & Seating Plan

The Joseph von Fraunhofer Hall in Straubing is a versatile event center located at Am Hagen 75, combining modern architecture with flexible usage options for culture, conferences, exhibitions, and entertainment. The centerpiece is the large hall, which can be arranged for concerts, shows, balls, or conferences depending on the seating and stage layout. Up to 2,000 seats are possible in row seating; additionally, there are variable areas and adjacent spaces, allowing for larger trade fair and conference formats. Next to the main entrance, a spacious foyer opens up for receptions, cloakrooms, and gastronomy, while the surrounding area with the Straubing event grounds at Am Hagen provides additional capacity, short distances, and numerous parking options. The location on the outskirts of the city is conveniently accessible: Visitors can quickly reach the hall from the A3 and A92 highways and follow the signage to the large parking lot at Am Hagen within the city. Events Today and Upcoming Events at the Joseph von Fraunhofer Hall

The program of the Joseph von Fraunhofer Hall thrives on diversity: Here, classical and pop concerts take place alongside comedy, galas, corporate events, and cultural formats from the region. To plan your visit up-to-date, it is advisable to check the event pages of the Straubing Exhibition and Event GmbH as well as the ticket shops of the respective organizers, which provide the specific seating plan, entry times, prices, and availability. An example from autumn 2025 is The Great Night of Swing & Laugh feat. Martin Frank, scheduled for Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the Joseph von Fraunhofer Hall, with seating categories displayed in the ticket shop for the parquet area. Additionally, regional ticket providers regularly publish dates in Straubing, including events in the hall such as seasonal concerts. Company-specific or non-public events are also held at the venue; they typically only appear in the internal calendar. Those looking for events today should check the official event overview and the portals of the respective providers, as last-minute changes, additional shows, or rescheduling will appear there promptly. This decentralized communication is typical for multipurpose halls, as different organizers and ticketing systems are used depending on the production. Thus, interested parties can find the suitable event, exact entry times, and any notes on age ratings, photo, or bag rules directly with the respective provider in just a few clicks. Seating Plan and Seats: How It Feels to Sit in the Joseph von Fraunhofer Hall

The hall operates with variable seating arrangements that follow the character of the event. Standard layouts include row seating for concerts, lectures, and comedy, table seating for galas and balls, conference and mixed layouts for meetings, as well as open exhibition areas for trade fairs. For each of these uses, coordinated plans exist that define the location of the stage, blocks, access points, and technical zones. Corresponding overview plans and plan sets are available on the official pages, which are particularly relevant for organizers. For visitors, it is crucial: The specific seating plan for an event can be found in the ticket shop of the respective organizer, often presented as an interactive seating plan view with selection by blocks and price categories. In many seating arrangements, the parquet is divided into areas such as left, center, and right; ticket shops then show the available seats by category in these sectors. In row seating, the sightline to the stage counts; accessible seats and companion seats are indicated based on the event. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to the seat description when purchasing tickets (e.g., parquet center) and to check the seating plan provided in the shop. For exhibitions or standing concerts, a fixed seating assignment is waived in favor of free movement in the hall. Those visiting with a group benefit from early booking, as contiguous seats, especially in middle rows and central blocks, can be quickly sold out. Getting to the Joseph von Fraunhofer Hall is comfortable both by car and public transport. By car, from the direction of Regensburg/Passau, the A3 leads via the Kirchroth exit to Straubing; from there, it goes along the West Tangent over the Danube, left at the entrance to the town, and then towards the event grounds. From the direction of Munich/Landshut, the A92 allows for a quick connection via the Straubing exit; within the city, follow the signage for the fair or large parking lot at Am Hagen. Parking options are available directly at the hall as well as in the spacious large parking lot at Am Hagen, which accommodates demand during larger events. The usable spaces range from about 90 to 6,000 square meters, accommodating both intimate discussions and large conferences and exhibitions. For the audience, this versatility means: Productions can be acoustically and visually adapted to the room geometry, from row layouts for concerts to ball and conference seating. The hall is easily accessible by car. There are also plenty of parking spaces. A very nice event hall that can be booked for various occasions throughout the year. Whether it's trade fairs, exhibitions, or during the ball season for dance events. There's always something going on.

Size and modern hall with plenty of free parking right in front of the entrance. Well signposted inside and friendly staff to guide you. What we didn't like was that it gets really warm quickly in the balcony seats from the rising heat of the hall. The ventilation couldn't handle it. Also, the waiting time at the bar was enormous despite few customers. There were about 15 people in front of us, yet it took almost 20 minutes. This could definitely be optimized when I look at comparable halls. Not to forget: well-maintained and spotless restrooms. The hall clearly excels in that.

The hall is modernly designed with a lot of glass. I was there for a lecture, and even though many people were queuing, the entry checks went relatively quickly. There were drinks available before the show and during the break. My suggestion for improvement is to have an attendant at the cloakroom to tell people where to line up. Otherwise, everyone queues at the front by the entrance and blocks it.

I was with friends at the city hall for the Coronator (tapping) festival 2023. It was my first time. There were surprisingly few people for a party! You can really feel how everyone is happy in 2023 that parties and festivals are back (without restrictions). The band was great. Although there could have been more party songs 😀. Otherwise, it was awesome.
